Signed by 13 Genuine WW2 RAAF B24 Liberator Airmen

Sydney Harbor, Sydney, September 1945

B24 Liberator Bomber's from 23 sqdn (City of Brisbane), 21 sqdn (City of Melbourne) and 24 sqdn (City of Adelaide) perform a victory fly-pass over Sydney to commemorate the end of hostilities in the Pacific. 

This unique edition carries the signatures of 13 Australian airmen and the artist. Total crew of a B24 Liberator was eleven men. Each of the signatures below belongs to an airman who actually flew in one of the designated positions within the aircraft. Monies from the sale of these limited edition prints will go towards the restoration of Australia's Only surviving B24 Liberator. This aircraft is shown in the foreground.

Sgn Ldr Richard f. Overheu, DFC AND BAR,

US PRESIDENTIAL CITATION (RAAF)

Flew Hudsons with 2,6 and 13 Sqns. In 1944 posted to Liberators and trained with the American 5th Air Force Conversion unit: joined 529 Sqn. 380th US Bombardment Group at Long Northern Territory. Whilst with 529 Sqn, he and two other Australian Crewed B24s included in a formation bombed and Strafed Kamiri Strip in Neomfoor IS, destroying Over twenty Japanese aircraft. For this raid he received a Bar to his DFC. 1944 posted to 24 Sqn RAAF Manbullo NT re-equipped with Liberators. The first operations by any RAAF Liberators was paratroop dropping behind Japanese lines in West New Guinea.

1941 flew Hudsons with 2 Sqn. 1942 posted to 32 Sqn. Port Moresby, 1943 Flying Instructor Sale Victoria, 1944-45 posted to 21 (City of Melbourne) Sqn. Flying Liberators Out of Fenton and Moratoi.

Co-Pilot: Flight Lieutenant Ed Crabtree (RAAF)

1943-44 flew with American 5th Air Force, 380th US Bombardment Group, 530 Sqn, based at Nadzab and Darwin. Flying Instructor, Tocumwal 1944-46,

102 Sqn. Liberators Cecil Plains Queensland.

Navigator, Flight Lieutenant Ray Borchers,

(RAAF)

Shot down whilst flying PBY Catalinas with 205 Sqn. RAAF based at Singapore. Later flew in B24s with 24 (City of Adelaide) Sqn, based at Fenton and Darwin.

Flight Engineer / Air Gunner: Warrant Officer Lin McDonald,

US AIR MEDAL, MID. (RAAF)

Flew with 11 Sqn. Catalinas 1942-44. Whilst training on Liberators flew with American 5th Air Force, 380th US Bombardment Group 529 Sqn. Operating from Port Morsby, Nadzab and Longstrip Northern Territory. Whilst with the 380th received US Air medal and was mentioned in despatches. Posted to 24 (City of Adelaide) Sqn. RAAF Malaya, Singapore, Sumatra and Java. 1942 flew Coastal patrol in Hudsons of Western Australia. 1943 Flying Instructor Bairnsdale and Sale, 1944 attached to 380th US Bombardment Group flying missions whilst training on Liberators, 1945 flew with 23 (City of Brisbane) Sqn. Surviving crash in fully fuelled B24 with full bomb load.

Flew 10 missions in Liberators with US 380th Bombardment Group, 380 sqn. based at Nadzab and Darwin. 1944-45 on Liberators with 23 Sqn. RAAF based at Longstrip Darwin.
